
Nuba Relief Rehabilitation and Development Organization (NRRDO), is an indigenous Sudanese Humanitarian Organization in the Nuba Mountains established in 1993 and became fully operational in 1995. NRRDO is legally registered at the regional level with SRRA, NGOs Board in Kenya and with RRC in South Sudan. Beside the relief and development role played by NRRDO, it also solicits and supports capacity building programs for the staff and the local authorities at all levels.

NRRDO assumed an active advocacy role through awareness campaigns, aimed at sensitizing and drawing the attention of the international community to the plight of the Nuba people. It was established to advocate and provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Nuba Mountains, which is under the SPLM-N controlled areas. This role growingly became critical after the exclusion of the Nuba Mountains region from the Operation Lifeline Sudan (OLS) mandate.
The programs NRRDO implements includes; education, food security, gender and women development, governance, peace building & access to justice, WASH Programme, community development and capacity building, health and animal health, community protection as a cross cutting issue as well as emergency lifesaving response with cash and relief intervention and FM radio.
In capacity building, NRRDO focuses in building and enhancing its staff’s capacity in terms of effective performance, train the local authority, public services and civil society organizations including youth, women groups and community-based organizations (CBOs) across the region.

NRRDO is making good progress towards organisational sustainability. The organization has its headquarters in Kauda – Heiban County, a Liaison office in Nairobi, a logistics office in Lokichogio and Sub-offices in Kurchi, Julud, Tima, Yida and Juba. Although NRRDO is a medium national organisation it’s credited with a strong team of staff who are 91% national and local staff that share in the culture and norms of the communities that NRRDO works with. A recent institutional assessment, NRRDO stands out as a potentially strong entity bringing out a few organisational and capacity concerns overall it depicts an organisation with strong determination to implement and realise results in every intervention that it gets involved.

NRRDO has a youthful staff members experienced and skilled in the four thematic areas of focus. NRRDO full time staff is estimated at 83 in addition to 42 temporary/ part time staff.
NRRDO has presence in 13 counties namely, Heiban, Dellami, Umdurain, Tobo (Buram) Dilling, Lagwa, Habilla, El Sanout, Rief El sharggi, New Tegelli, Talodi, Western Kadogli and Kau Nyaro/Werni
The organization has complied with all statutory requirements for South Sudan and is registered with Relief and Rehabilitation Commission and a member of the NGO Forum. It has liaison office in Kenya registered with NGO bureau and has liaisons office in Nairobi.
